HR managers from the US and Canada were asked this question: \u201cWhat is the most annoying or overused phrase or buzzword in the workplace today????<\/p>\n<p>Apparently HR folks are tired and \u201cfed-up??? with hearing and seeing words such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714\">&#8211; \u201cOut of pocket???<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u201cDeep dive???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cForward-thinking???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDynamic???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLet me get back to you???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPick your brain???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEmployee engagement???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLOL???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIt\u2019s not my job???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIt\u2019s above my pay grade???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhen am I going to get a raise????<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI am overwhelmed???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCrunch time???<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interestingly, words and phrases that were picked up in previous surveys showed up again in the latest survey. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714\">\u201cWin-win???<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u201cValue-added???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThink outside the box???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLeverage???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAt the end of the day???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCircle back???<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSynergy???<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(source: http:\/\/www.humanresourcesonline.net\/buzzwords-hr-hates)<\/p>\n<p>So my questions are:<\/p>\n<p>1. If HR folks are \u201cfed-up??? hearing and seeing these words in their day-to-day work, then how will they react to candidate Resumes that contain these words and phrases?<\/p>\n<p>2. Will the mention of these words in a candidate\u2019s Resume result in a negative impression of the candidate?<\/p>\n<p>3.
